I have taught for over eleven years, all with Sterling Public Schools, serving as an active member of the Sterling High School English department. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Secondary English from Augustana College in 2005. After teaching for several years, I realized obtaining a Master’s Degree in Education, with a focus on reading instruction, would make me an asset to my school. I earned my Master’s from Western Illinois University in 2009. I am currently pursuing a second Master’s through American College of Education. I am studying Educational Technology and plan on graduating in October of 2016. I am also working toward a Librarian certification through the state of Illinois and hope to be fully certified by Winter of 2017.
My hobbies include running, music trivia, and reading YA lit. Some of my favorite books of ALL TIME include anything by Ray Bradbury (especially Fahrenheit 451 and Dandelion Wine), The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee , and The Terrible Wonderful Reasons I Run Long Distances by The Oatmeal.
